Now for the historic part of the weekend. Sylvia Pierce took part in the first ever Michigan Girls State Championships on Sunday at Adrian College. There were 154 wrestlers in the 14 weight classes. Sylvia was in the 125 lb weight class with 10 other girls. She opened the tournament with a loss by pin to the eventual champion. She bounced back and won three matches in a row in dominating fashion (TF, pin, pin) to take 5th place becoming Bedford's first ever All-State female wrestler! She is only a sophomore and has two more chances to win a State title, and we know she will give it everything she has to do it. Great job Sylvia!
